    About HATEM DARWEESH

    With eighteen years of arbitration-focused experience, Hatem has served as a sole arbitrator, a party-appointed arbitrator and counsel in many local and international commercial arbitrations under a variety of arbitration rules, including ICC, ICSID, CRCICA and UNCITRAL His arbitration and dispute resolution practice focus on the sectors of telecommunications, construction, agencies, hotel management and insurance. Hatem was a Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Law of Cairo University from the year 2000 through 2010, and prior to that he also served as State Commissioner in the Egyptian State Council.

    Hatem’s Arbitration track record includes:

    ⦁ Representing a major Chinese telecommunications company in a multi-million-Dollar dispute in connection with a cooperation agreement (ad hoc); representing a major telecommunications company in a multi-million-Dollar arbitration in a dispute in connection with a share-purchase agreement (ad hoc); representing the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt in ICSID arbitration proceedings (Waguih Siag et al. v. the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt); representing a major Egyptian telecommunications company in multi-million Dollar dispute in connection with an interconnection agreement (CRCICA); representing a major Egyptian insurance company in a multi-billion-Dollar arbitration against an Egyptian bank under the Arbitration Rules of the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA); party-appointed arbitrator in a multi-million-Dollar dispute in connection with failure to perform seller’s obligations under a share purchase agreement under the Arbitration Rules of Cairo Regional Centre for International Commercial Arbitration (CRCICA); party-appointed arbitrator in a multi-million-Dollar dispute in connection with uncollected agency fees under the Arbitration Rules of CRCICA; party-appointed arbitrator in a multi-million-Dollar construction dispute under the Arbitration Rules of CRCICA; and sole arbitrator in a service provision dispute under the under the Arbitration Rules of CRCICA.
